Begun in 2006, THI is a student initiated programme in Raffles Institution (Junior College) seeking to provide technical and financial support for multiple simultaneous community involvement projects. Headed by a core 7-member team, THI is currently undertaking several projects to raise funds for our beneficiary.
Toa Payoh Care Corner Seniors Activity Centre Founded in the 1980s, Care Corner strives to meet the needs of families and those requiring social and financial support in Singapore. The Seniors Activity Centre is a community-based drop-in centre, providing services to keep the elderly engaged in activities. Most elderly live alone in one-room flats, requiring financial support and improved facilities. Apart from organizing a series of fund-raising projects, The Humanities Initiative also holds regular block-cleaning sessions for the elderly and help purchase sundry products for the elderly. Funds raised through the art auction will go a long way in improving the facilities of the Toa Payoh Care Corner Seniors Activity Centre. From previous fund-raising projects, food packages were purchased for distribution amongst the elderly. Other benefits include expanding the activity area for more entertainment activities.
Charity Art Auction Tying in the visual arts with fund raising, our first art auction aims to promote interest and involvement in the Singapore arts scene for a worthy cause. We also seek to bring greater understanding and empathy for the elderly in Singapore by raising awareness and interest in these social issues, and encourage greater concern for their circumstances.
Thank you very much!
Sincerely, The Humanities Initiative http://thehumanitiesinitiative.wordpress.com/ rjhumanzi@gmail.com

Council camp just ended yesterday, concluding the end of all the 28ths' functions. The end is near, and I think I'm near enough to taste the bitterness of all that withdrawal, but for now there's an overflowing to-do list to complete and lots of work to catch up on! Life's been ok, dealing a fair hand of cards to play with happy moments at every corner, like putting everything back into order, and even simple things like meeting my very own 29th buddy for the first time! Will write more when time allows.
Just keep swimming, keep swimming!
